About us

Back in the early 1980s, the folks in the Nine Mile community saw the need for their own fire department. Neighbors came together, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work building it from the ground up. One of those folks, Mr. Louis Edmons, had an idea—why not raise money by putting on a bluegrass festival?
So in 1985, the very first 9 Mile Bluegrass Festival was born. Bands like Valley Grass, Bottom Dollar, The Edmons Family, and more filled the air with music. Word spread, and by the '90s, crowds swelled to over a thousand. People came from all across the Southeast, bringing their campers and tents, and picking all weekend long.
Then in 1992, the Edmons were requested to host a second festival right there on the farm. That gave even more musicians a chance to get on stage and share their sound.
What makes us different?
Local and regional bands grace the stage, while musicians of all skill levels are encouraged to join in the jamming throughout the campground.
